Kelby > This is all that is visible of the new wiring upgrade.
This is my new distribution block.
The photos will continue next weekend when I install the new Polk Audio speakers that I just bought.
This little project is sure turning out to be a lot more expensive than I planned, which seems to be how the world works.
Kelby > Here is where everything got interesting.
This is the new speakers installed, they are 3-inches deep so I had to make a 3/4-inch spacer for them to fit in the door without hitting the window. The next problem that I ran into was that they were hitting on the door panel.
After 4 or 5 hours of trying everything that I could think of I finally came to the conclusion that these speakers are just to damn deep for my car. So now I was dead in the water until I ordered some new speakers.
I still don't know what the hell I am going to do with these new speakers, they are to nice to return so I am thinking the the "Beast" might get a nice new stereo.

Kelby > This is the new sub that I bought, even though the one that I had worked just fine this was such a good deal that I decided that some change might be nice.
Kelby > Here is the amp that I picked up to power the new components. It is decent power with some where around 85 watts per channel RMS. I should power these speaker quite nicely.
Kelby > These speaker are from a private company called Elemental Designs. They are hand made and look really nice and I got them through an internet deal for less than $100, which is a steal. I couldn't wait to hear how they sounded.
Kelby > Here is the amp install kit that I got to replace my current wiring. I currently had 8 guage wire and since I am now going to be running two amps with a decent amount of draw I decided that I should upgrade the wiring as well. Just a tip I picked up this kit at Walmart for about $30 which is almost a third of what the stereo shops wanted for the exact same thing.
Kelby > Here is the comparision between the new sub that I got on the right and my old sub on the left. The new sub is only 3-inches deep and is designed to be able to work in a 0.3cf box. I still don't know what I am going to do with my old sub, but I am sure that I will eventually figure out something fun. I am thinking that it would be fun to build a big box and feed it some major power and see what it can do.
